Kozachik with his handmade robots after wrapping James and the Giant Peach
By the age of 12, Kozachik was making a stop-motion animated dinosaur film in his backyard. Like so many other VFX pros of that generation, the young filmmaker was influenced by Ray Harryhausen’s creatures in The 7th Voyage of Sinbad.

After Coraline, which would be his last film, Kozachik set about pursuing a childhood dream of building and flying his own plane.
Corpse Bride Director Mike Johnson remembers Kozachik as “a great artist and technician, a kind-hearted, sharp-witted perfectionist, who gave so much to the world of stop-motion and VFX. Pete’s spirit lives on in his films.” Kozachick (far right) with Director Henry Selick, (far left) and Animator Anthony Scott (middle) after the release of Coraline
